NID New Italian Dance Platform
Reggio Emilia 10-13 October 2019

NID Platform

A first glance on the artistic proposals for NID Platform 2017 on the online portal

118 proposals and 79 companies: these are the first data on the call for NID Platform 2017. This represents a very wide response from the production sector of Italian dance, showing that the knowledge and the interest for this festival – established only 5 years ago – are growing fast.

The companies – some of which submitted more than one proposal – come from almost all Italian regions. Lazio, Toscana, Veneto and Emilia Romagna are the most represented, followed by Lombardia, Puglia and Campania. As far as the shows go, they range from solos to creations for large groups, across several styles and languages; and are from 15 to 120 minutes long.

As we are awaiting all the proposals which will form the programme of the next NID Platform, selected by the Artistic Commission – Natalia Alvarez, John Ashford, Natalia Casorati, Pier Giacomo Cirella, Angela Fumarola and Gordana Vnuk –, the online portal is now active.

As announced over the last few months, the portal gathers all the artistic proposals which have been submitted through the call: this is thus the first web platform of Italian dance, a showcase intended to provide space and visibility to Italian companies and their performances. In the section “Portal” on the website, each artistic proposal is linked to a file with information on the artist and the company, a short abstract of the proposed show, a promotional video, and buttons for social sharing. All the proposals will be visible in rotation in the designated section, whereas the menu item “All proposals” gives access to the complete list.
